What to Expect

We are so excited to be hosting South Florida Frocktails again in 2024.  We had an amazing time lastyear. Everyone was talking about the party for months and 2024 will be even better. This year, South Florida Frocktails will be held at New River’s most hidden gem, the Historic Maxwell Room in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. You can take a virtual tour of the Historic Maxwell Room HERE. This location is perfect for this year’s theme.  We are having a masquerade ball!  

The dress code is an evening gown or cocktail dress along with a mask.  You can bring your own mask, but we will also be providing masks if you choose to wear one.  What does a masquerade symbolize? In summary, Masquerades have a long history that is rooted in ancient societies, but also in the celebration of Carnival and Balls, as a way to conceal identities and express oneself freely. It is also a symbol of anonymity, freedom, and the ability to take on different identities.  As sewist, we are part of an ancient society since sewing can be perceived as a dying art.  We also have the freedom to sew whatever we want and become a different identity if we choose to.  

The night begins at 6 PM and we will be serving appetizers and the Maxwell Room has a full bar.  Everyone will receive 1 free drink ticket.

The focus of the event is the party, but I know many of you are excited to meet many of your fellow sewist IRL. We have so many things in store for you all that evening. We encourage you all to make and wear your most glamourous, over the top make so you can grab your sew friends and hit up the 360 photobooth to immortalize the night.

We have sponsors who have so generously donated items for us to raffle off throughout the night. Keep your eyes on the South Florida Frocktails IG page as we will be announcing our sponsors on our page soon. Not only will we be having raffles throughout the night, but we will give prizes to the overall best dressed, most creative, most original and of course the most dramatic. So, bring the drama baby!
